How many times have you gone to the website VA Watchdog dot Org to do research for your disability claim? If you're like many of my Veteran friends, it's on your required reading list several times weekly, if not daily. If you are a daily reader than this will not come as surprise to you. VA Watchdog dot Org is closing its' doors for good. Larry Scott is retiring.
No, I did not stutter. Yes, you read that right. Don't try to wipe the dust off your computer screen, don't rub the crusties out of your eyes, don't clean your glasses. VA Watchdog dot Org, as we know it, will cease to exist. It will remain live until February 2011 for you and I to be able to access the archives. If you need to do your research, now is the time to do it. If you've been procrastinating, procrastinate no more.
Larry Scott has been running Watchdog for five years now. He dared to go where no one else went before him. He discussed topics that went previously untouched. Nothing was taboo as far as Larry was concerned. Larry brought us the truth and we've loved and respected him for it. Godspeed Larry.
If you'd like to express your own well wishes to Larry, please stop by VA Watchdog dot Org. You can leave comments for Larry on the site or you can email him directly. I'm sure he'd love to hear from all of you.
As most of you know, my pal Jim Strickland was a regular contributor to VA Watchdog dot Org. Larry has been Jim's mentor. Jim is my mentor. Jim has promised to carry on the torch for Larry and I've agreed to join him in his quest. Soon, you'll be able to find all the news you once went to Watchdog for on our site, Jim Strickland's A to Z Guide. The A to Z Guide will not replicate Watchdog. It has it's own flavor and style. We will also continue to run our very popular Straight Talk for Veterans Forum. Between the two sites you'll be able to get all the latest news, learn how to do your owns claims, express your opinions, and ask questions and get answers from a panel that includes attorneys, VSOs, psychologists, advocates and other subject matter experts. Those are just a few of the topics we cover. Remember ... this is an A to Z site. If you go to A to Z and there's something there you want covered that isn't, ask about it at Straight Talk. We'll get you an answer.
This has been a rough day for the Veteran community, my friends. We've lost a tremendously successful resource. Many of us feel like we're losing a close and personal friend. It is my hope that Jim and I can make Larry Scott proud. It is my belief that you'll stand by us in this just as you've supported us in our Straight Talk endeavor.
If you have time, stop by VA Watchdog dot Org. Take a few minutes to thank Larry for all that he's done for us. He definitely deserves that.
Until the next time .....
